Privacy Policy

Who we are. Jefe is provided by Isaac Wallace-Menge, an individual doing business as a sole proprietor in California, United States — the person responsible for the information described below, and who “we” and “us” refer to throughout this policy. Reach us at damsac.app@gmail.com.
The short version: Your audio never leaves your phone. Speech is turned into text right on the device. To build your paperwork, only the text is sent to Anthropic’s AI service. Your work is not used to train AI models, we don’t sell your data, and there are no ads or trackers.
What Jefe does with your voice
When you record a walk, the speech-to-text happens on your device. Your audio recordings are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. To turn your words into an estimate, invoice, or report, the resulting text transcript is sent to Anthropic (the Claude API), which generates the document and returns it to your device. That text is used only to produce your output; it is not sold, and it is not used to train AI models.
Jefe keeps recording while the screen is locked or the app is in your pocket, so a walk isn’t cut short. It records only between the moment you start a walk and the moment you finish it.
Who else is involved
Being specific about this, because “a third-party provider” isn’t an answer anyone can check. If we change any of these providers we’ll update this page, and we’ll tell you in the app if the change is material.
- Anthropic — receives the text transcript to write your document. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms for the API, your content is not used to train their models. Anthropic deletes inputs and outputs from its systems within 30 days. If their automated safety checks flag something as a policy violation, the content can be kept for up to 2 years and the resulting safety scores for up to 7 years.
- Cloudflare — requests pass through a service we run on Cloudflare, which relays them to Anthropic and counts usage so we can meter costs. Like any web request, it necessarily sees your device’s IP address.
- Apple — sells and bills the subscription, and may share crash logs and aggregated usage data with us.
- Netlify — hosts this website and receives waitlist form submissions.
What we collect
- On your device (not sent to us): your business details (name, city, license number), your walks, transcripts, photos you take, contacts Jefe picks out of what you said, and the documents you create. These live on your device and are included in documents you choose to share.
- Transcript text: sent to Anthropic only to generate your documents, as described above.
- An install identifier: a random ID created on your device the first time you use Jefe. It contains nothing about you or your phone, and it is what lets us count usage and apply the free-walk allowance without any account or login. It is stored in the iOS keychain, which means it survives deleting and reinstalling the app — deliberately, so reinstalling doesn’t reset the free allowance. Your free-walk count is stored the same way.
- Usage totals: for each install ID we keep a running daily cost total for three days, plus request logs (time, model, token counts — never the content).
- Waitlist: if you join the waitlist on this website we collect the name and email address you submit, and your trade if you give it, through Netlify Forms, so we can tell you about the app.
Other people in your walks
A walk often captures information about people who never installed Jefe — a client’s name and address, a tenant’s details, gate and lockbox codes, the condition of someone’s home. That information is in the transcript, so it is sent to Anthropic along with everything else, and it stays on your device in your walk history.
You are responsible for handling it appropriately, and for telling people when you are recording — some states legally require their agreement. See section 4 of the Terms.
What we don’t do
- We don’t upload or store your audio recordings.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
- We don’t show you ads, build advertising profiles, or track you across apps or websites. Jefe contains no analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind, and we do not respond to Do Not Track signals because we do not track.
- We don’t see your payment details. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple; your card never touches us.
- Your content is not used to train AI models.
How long we keep it
On-device data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app — with one exception: the install identifier and your free-walk count are kept in the keychain and survive deleting the app, as described above. Deleting a walk in the app removes it from your board; the underlying record is marked deleted and stays in the app’s local database on your phone.
On our side: daily usage totals for three days, request logs (no content) as kept by Cloudflare, and waitlist emails until you ask us to remove them. We do not retain your transcript text at all beyond passing it along to generate your document. Anthropic keeps it for up to 30 days, as described above — so “we don’t keep it” is true of us and not of the whole chain, and you should read those two sentences together.
Your choices
- You can turn off microphone access anytime in iOS Settings (Jefe won’t be able to hear your walk).
- You can delete a walk or document in the app.
- You can email us to see, correct, or delete what we hold, or to be removed from the waitlist.
- Because the paperwork is written by Anthropic’s AI, there is no way to use Jefe without the transcript text being sent. If you’d rather that didn’t happen, don’t record a walk — and you can stop entirely by cancelling any subscription and deleting the app.
Security
Your walks and documents live on your phone, protected by your device passcode and iOS encryption. Traffic to and from our service is encrypted in transit. Data in Apple’s device backups is covered by your iCloud settings. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your information we’ll tell you and any regulator the law requires, promptly.
Children
Jefe is a tool for working tradespeople and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 to use it.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and if the change is material we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
